The product is the result of in-depth research and development by the team at Peter's, led by technical and retail sales director David Jackson. Within weeks of its launch to the trade, the product has been snapped up by supermarket chain Tesco.
The brief given to the Peter's team was to create a sausage that would appeal to sausage buyers who understood the benefits of quality meat, but who were also price-conscious.
The new range encompasses a selection of Pork or Pork & Leek sausages, available in 454g packs of six.
The packaging has also been given serious consideration, with a design expected to attract savvy buyers. It follows the current trend in premium sausage packaging, with the sausages sealed in a plastic tray and covered in an attractive cardboard sleeve.
Jackson said: "The new sausages give consumers the best of both worlds - a quality sausage at a good price. Our customers are becoming increasingly aware of meat quality issues and are prepared to pay a little more for a higher-quality product."
Tesco senior buyer Mark Grant said: "This is an exciting addition to an already great range of Peters' products stocked by Tesco in Wales."
