An advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates will be visiting Birmingham tomorrow (Friday) to discuss halal meat export opportunities.

Sheikh Syed Ali Hashmi, a personal advisor to President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will be meeting Janan Meat MD Naved Syed and Mohammad Nazir, West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum chairman, to discuss business opportunities between the two countries.

Sheikh Syed will be visiting the Birmingham Law Courts on Friday, followed by a seminar at Birmingham law firm Artis Legal.

Key Birmingham business leaders will have an opportunity to highlight matters of mutual benefit, such as business and non-commercial investment opportunities in halal developments, Islamic finance and other mutual partnerships within Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Naved Syed said: For too long Birmingham City (has) lost out (on) investments from the UAE to London and other cities. Birmingham and the West Midlands has a great track record of developing new initiatives in the halal food industry and this is sure to attract extra interest for potential investments from His Excellency Sheikh Syed Ali Hashimi.
