Butchery recipes survive fire
A fire at one of the country's first farm shops has spared a precious recipe book that survived the blaze.
The fire, on 5 July, devastated Hinchliffe's Farm Shop and Old Farmhouse Restaurant at Sunnyside Farm near Huddersfield, which were both lost in the inferno. However a 'bible' of butchery recipes, including a Champion of Champions 2006 title winner of a pork, mature cheddar and chive sausage, was found intact, locked in a safe.
The book belongs to butchers Simon Haigh and Andrew Whitwam. Simon told The Huddersfield Daily Examiner: "It contains recipes that we have developed over several years. They are unique to us, so obviously they mean a lot."
The butchers lost tens of thousands of pounds-worth of equipment and about 30 treasured trophies, picked up at a host of regional and national competitions.
