Campden BRI to host seminar on meat topics

Research firm Campden BRI is running a seminar for the meat and poultry industries, covering major current topics, such as halal, novel technologies for food and low protein diets for pigs.

Country-of-origin labelling and additive authorisation will also be discussed by John Hammond of Campden. Professor John Wood from the University of Bristol will talk on lower-protein pig diets and the impact on the environment, as well as product quality.

Halal slaughter will be dealt with by Mohamad Nazir of the European Halal Development Agency, while Professor Olena Doran from the Institute of Bio-Sensing Technology, University of the West of England will lead a discussion on novel technologies for food quality traits.

Campden's Martin Whitworth will talk about how NIR imaging can be used to predict meat quality.

The seminar is on 21 October in Chipping Camden, Gloustershire.
