ABP to offer better deal through technology
One of the UK’s leading beef processors is embracing new technology which it claims will improve consistency and transparency in the grading of beef carcases.
Working in conjunction with Sainsbury’s, ABP is implementing new automated grading technology for the company’s fresh beef production.
In a statement, it said the technology provided “a number of significant benefits for the entire beef supply chain, and could ultimately lead to farmers being paid according to an analysis of meat cuts and meat yield”.
The new equipment will be introduced in ABP’s Northern Ireland and Scottish abattoirs from 1 January 2011. Other ABP processing facilities will come on stream as soon as it is practically possible, the company added.
