HCC consumer executive Elwen Roberts told some 200 nurses and health practitioners about the role that red meat can play to help a patient to fully recover after illness, or as part of a general healthy lifestyle. She said: "Practice nurses are often the first point of contact that people have when they visit their surgeries. They often give patients advice on their lifestyle, including diet and exercise."
While several drug companies have stands at the Cardiff event, very few food companies take part, although this is the second time HCC has attended.
The delegates, from GP practices across Wales and the south west of England, were also given booklets giving details of the protein, iron and nutrients contained in red meat.
