RSPCA says “Think Pig” this Christmas
The RSPCA has urged consumers to buy Freedom Food-branded pork products this Christmas.
The society said it wanted diners to “Think Pig” and choose free-range, outdoor-reared, outdoor-bred or organic pork this winter.
It has launched the campaign after witnessing an increase in spending on pork at Christmas.
Sales of pork roasting joints increased by a quarter last year in comparison with 2008 and, during 2009, £843m was spent on pork.
The campaign has a Facebook page, which has more than 1,000 fans, and also features a clutch of recipes for pork.
