Allens offers free haggis tastings

21 January, 2011

Traditional butcher Allens of Mayfair is offering public tastings of haggis today and on Tuesday, 25 January, in honour of Burns’ Night.

Allens’ butchers will be kilted up in full Scottish dress to offer samples of freshly cooked haggis and on the day itself next week – which celebrates the birthday of Scots poet Robert Burns – there will be a piper.

Richard Sanders, the new general manager at the Mount Street shop, said “Burns’ Night is celebrated with haggis internationally, but so many people have never even tasted it. I’m slowly restoring many British food traditions in the shop and this is the first event for the public.”
