BDCI loses a charity stalwart
Kathleen Dennis, a stalwart of the Butchers' & Drovers' Charitable Institution (BDCI) over many years, has died at the age of 89. For more than two years she was president after Douglas Noakes became indisposed, and over many years she supported her husband, Leonard, who himself was president for more than 20 years.
Susan White, chairman of the BDCI grants committee, said "Kathleen gave so many years of wonderful service to the BDCI. She was a great organiser of the Christmas parties for the Smoothfield Homes residents, and of refreshments for guests after the annual meeting. She gave her time generously and she'll be greatly missed."
The funeral is being held on 28 January at 3.45pm at the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, Old Chapel, Wanstead, East London.
