Entries well up for M&PPA

The Meat & Poultry Processing Awards continue to go from strength to strength, with entry levels double those of last year.

The awards, established last year, have proved popular with the industry, generating strong entries from all sectors of the UK.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "We're delighted that the Meat & Poultry Processing Awards have generated such a high level of entries, continuing to build on the strong response to the launch event last year.

"There are no awards like this for the sector, focusing on the hard work, skill and innovation that goes on within the meat and poultry processing sectors. We want to give the stars within our industry the chance to shine."

Judging will be taking place next week, and MTJ will soon be able to reveal the finalists in each of the following seven categories:

Environmental Initiative of the Year

Export Initiative of the Year

Plant Manager of the Year

Processing Business of the Year

Small Processing Business of the Year

Supply Chain Initiative of the Year

Young Processor of the Year

The awards are supported by the British Meat Processors Association, the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers, the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers Federation, the British Poultry Council and the Provision Trade Federation. Sponsors include Bizerba, Eblex, the Meat Training Council and Reiser UK.

Winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Monday, 28 March, 2011, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.
