Police issue illegal venison warning
Restaurants and suppliers are being warned not to buy illegally killed venison after reports of poaching in the Sussex countryside.
Police in the county claim that organised crime has sprung up around game supply, following a surge in the meat’s popularity at restaurants, pubs and hotels.
The latest reports have come from the Wealden area around Heathfield.
Anyone who suspects illegal poaching is taking place is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
