Deliciously Wild signs Waitrose deal

Deliciously Wild is now supplying its wild venison products to Waitrose stores in the north-east.

The company’s free-range diced venison steak, mince and haunch steaks are available at Waitrose in Hexham and Ponteland from this week.

Deliciously Wild MD Dr Stuart McLanaghan said: “We are delighted that customers can now find our wild venison products on the shelves at Waitrose. Working in partnership with a such a prestigious retailer, with a reputation for fine foods and a commitment to local sourcing, means more people can enjoy the great taste and nutritional benefits of wild venison on a regular basis.”

Tracey Marshall, Waitrose local and regional manager, added: “We are always on the look-out for interesting locally sourced food and Deliciously Wild ticked all the boxes for us. Not only can we trace where the meat comes from, we are also able to open up the market for this tasty, sustainable meat. Our customers are real foodies and will love choosing cuts based on the taste-scale indicator on the pack.”

The products are said to be in unique packaging containing nutritional and cooking information, recipe suggestions and an innovative ‘taste scale’ – indicating taste differences from delicate to more full-flavoured.

Dr McLanaghan added: “We are not just selling a product, we are passionate about wild venison and we are working hard to provide information and help spread the word about its benefits and show what a delicious and healthy alternative it is in everyday dishes, such as stews, chilli and stir-fry.”
