Voting underway for SuperMeat Personality

Judging is complete and finalists in the SuperMeat & Fish Awards 2011 can now be revealed as voting also gets underway for this year’s SuperMeat Personality of the Year.

A team of judges spent a week in the heart of Gloucestershire, sampling more than 150 different products across 12 different categories to arrive at this year’s list of finalists.

Our final nominations for the Personality award can also be revealed, and MTJ is delighted to announce the finalists for this year They are: Julien Pursglove, Sainsbury’s; Stan Burns, Tesco; Wil Lloyd Williams, director of policy with the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders; and David Gunner, president of the British Meat Processors Association and boss of Dovecote Park.

All four will now be put to the public vote and you can register your support for your winning personality by clicking here. (voting now closed)

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, which organises the awards, said: “We’ve had record numbers of entries into this year’s event, which reflects the high level of retailer participation. The standard of those entries was equally high and it has proved a long and difficult week for judges to whittle down the list to our finalists.”

Competing in this year’s awards are Asda, Budgens, The Co-operative Food, Lidl, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. The awards take place on 7 July at the Park Lane Hilton, London, and will be presented by leading impressionist and comic Alistair McGowan.

Sponsoring the awards are Bpex, Eblex, HCC – Meat Promotion Wales, LMC, Verstegen Spices & Sauces and the Vion Food Group. For details, contact Helen Law on 01293 846593 or email helen.law@wrbm.com. To book your place, call Elizabeth Ellis on 01293 846595, or email elizabeth.ellis@wrbm.com.
