Smithfield Chef releases beef bible
MasterChef presenter and Smithfield restauranteer - John Torode - has released a book celebrating his passion for British beef.
Torode's book, entitled 'Beef and Other Bovine Matters', includes details of the history and importance of great and rare cattle breeds, butcher's recommended cuts and a range of recipes from around the world - from classics such as pies and roasts to contemporary Italian, French and Thai specialities.
Featuring photographs by renowened food photographer Jason Lowe, the book also includes a poster detailing the different cuts and how best to cook them.
Australian by birth, John Torode came to the UK in the early 1990's and joined the Conran Group, where he was head chef at Mezzo. John now runs Smiths of Smithfield - in the heart of London's Smithfield market - and a new restaurant, The Luxe, which opens early next year.
