One Pig Weekend plans announced
One of the UK’s leading meat processors is hoping to kick-start a pork promotional campaign with the launch of a sausage and beer festival, hosted by celebrity farmer Jimmy Doherty.
One Pig Weekend, which takes place on 30-31 July, aims to put the focus on pork for one weekend of the year, encouraging people to throw parties to celebrate the meat, and put pork back on the menu.
The scheme is part of Vion’s Put Pork On Your Fork and it said: “From simple lunches to exquisite dinner parties, BBQs, lounge picnics, romantic candle-lit soirées, sausage-eating competitions and raucous garden do’s, One Pig Weekend is your chance to eat like a king and do some good for British pig farmers.”
To help encourage take up of the week, Vion has teamed up with Doherty who will be hosting his own One Pig Weekend Sausage and Beer festival at his farm in Suffolk. For more details on the event, click here.
