Greggs goes to Iceland

High Street baker Greggs has joined forces with frozen food supermarket Iceland to test sales of its sausage rolls as frozen bake-at-home products.

The company announced the sale of four-packs of Greggs branded sausage rolls in 10 Iceland shops in Liverpool and the north west of England.

A spokesman for Greggs said: “This is a trial which will enable Greggs to assess the potential for its savoury foods to be sold into the frozen take-home market, and to identify any impact this could have on its existing shop business.”

Greggs revealed a sales growth of 4.8%, ahead of its annual general meeting in May this year. Over the last year it has opened 20 new shops and refitted 59 of its stores, 20 of which are in a new foodservice format.
