Online UK store granted halal certification
Blackburn-based online store, Sara’s Halal Foods, has been granted certification by the UK’s Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC).
The HMC is a non-profit making organisation, which monitors, inspects and certifies halal products, in particular the halal meat and poultry sector. It was established in 2003 to provide assurance that halal meat served for UK Muslims meets strict religious guidelines, including a blanket ruling disallowing stunning in any form.
Mr Faruk Vali, director of Sara’s Halal Foods, said: “We are delighted to be the first ever online store in the UK to be awarded this prestigious certification. The Muslim community in the UK can confidently go online to buy genuine halal meat from Sara’s.
“During this special month of Ramadan, where the food eaten to break the fast takes on special significance, we are delighted to have secured the HMC certification for Sara’s. Now, Muslims can buy online, with the reassurance that their meat has passed the Halal Gold Standard.”
Sara’s Hala Foods was founded in 2000 and offers a comprehensive selection of over 150 halal products, ranging from fresh chicken to pies, burgers to biltong.
