Say 'Allo 'Allo to Autumn Fair

08 August, 2011

Events are taking shape for this Autumn’s Butchers’ Fair, with everything from Champion of Champions and pie competitions to a butchers vs bakers face-off, live on stage.

Former ‘Allo ‘Allo actress Vicki Michelle will be compering events for MTJ on the day, which takes place at Bolton Arena on 2 October.

Building on the success of the spring event, the Autumn Butchers’ Fair, once again co-located with sister event, Bakers’ Fair, will see a wide range of companies exhibiting the latest products and systems of interest to butchers. From the latest marinade and ingredients products, to the latest innovations in technology and equipment, the fair will offer something for all butchers.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “We’re all looking forward to the day, which is already shaping up to be a great event. We’ve got a great range of exhibitors, speakers and competitions taking place throughout the fair, with a little something for everyone.

“For the serious sausage-makers, we’ll be hosting our annual ultimate sausage contest, Champion of Champions, which will see the UK’s best sausage revealed live on stage.”

Pie producers will also be in with a chance of grabbing some glory, with four categories up for grabs, including pork pie, savoury pie, steak and kidney pie and pasties.

Bedington added: “And for a bit of fun, we’re delighted to see a return to our butchers vs bakers competition, this time, taking a Generation Game-style theme, with two butchers trying their hand at cake-making, while two bakers get to grips with sausage-making!”
