Cooked meat company expands operation

Summit Foods, the Lancashire-based cooked meat supplier, has announced a major expansion which will see 30 new jobs created at its Preston base.

The family-run company said a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will extend its Bamber Bridge premises from 26,000sq ft to 38,500sq ft.

Summit Foods manufactures a range of cooked meat products, meat-based snacks and quality raw and cooked burger and sausages for foodservice, retail, and manufacture. It has introduced more than 25 new products onto the market in the last five years, including the Snacksters range of frozen microwaveable products, as well as other private-label products.

The announcement coincides with the company celebrating its 30th birthday.

Director Vanessa Lewis said: “We are delighted and proud to mark this major milestone in the ongoing success story of Summit Foods. And it’s even more pleasing that we can celebrate our 30th anniversary with the news that we are expanding the business by growing our workforce and expanding our premises.”
