Investigation launched after abattoir death
A worker has died after an accident at an abattoir near Wootton Bassett.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the 49-year-old man died last Thursday after the accident at F Drury and Sons abattoir at Tockenham.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing.”
A Great Western Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one of its senior managers was driving through the area when the 999 call was received.
“When he got there he quickly evaluated the patient but unfortunately he had passed away,” she added.
