Christiaanse steps down from Vion UK
Vion Food UK boss Ton Christiaanse has announced plans to step down from his role, following internal restructuring within the food giant.
Christiaanse, who is also a member of Vion NV’s executive board, took on the role of UK chief executive following the company’s acquisition of the Grampian Country Food Group in 2008.
In a statement, Vion said: “The integration and restructuring of Vion Food UK was successfully implemented under his leadership. This now obviates the dual role of CEO Vion Food UK and member of the executive board of Vion NV. Ton Christiaanse has therefore decided to leave Vion. The company respects Ton Christiaanse’s decision.”
Maarten Kusters, currently director of operations of Vion Food Netherlands, will take over from Christiaanse from 1 March 2012, but Christiaanse will continue working with the business until mid-2012, focusing on achieving strategic projects and ensuring the optimum transfer of his responsibilities, the company said.
Peter Barr CBE, the former MLC chairman, will retain his role as Vion UK’s non-executive chairman.
