Devro appoints director to bolster global strategy

Sausage casings company Devro has announced the appointment of a new non-executive director and chair of the audit committee, which will bolster its global strategy.

Jane Lodge joins Devro from Deloitte, where she was a senior audit partner advising global manufacturing companies, including those in the food sector. She also oversaw the UK manufacturing industry sector, with responsibility for strategy and marketing and co-chaired a global team of partners to review the strategy of the Global Deloitte Firm. Until 2011, she was a member of the CBI Manufacturing Council.

Chairman of Devro Steve Hannam said, “I am delighted to welcome Jane to the Devro board. Not only does she have the necessary recent financial skills, but she has an understanding of businesses such as Devro and the challenges they face in their global markets. Her background and contacts will bring a new breadth to the board.”

Soon after revealing solid sales growth for 2011, with strong international sales and revenues up 6.6% year-on-year, Devro announced that it was moving a core strategy team to a newly created London office to make it easier to explore new market opportunities for growth outside the UK. It is also recruiting a new strategy and marketing director to head up the team and provide an over-arching global strategic plan.
