Initiative to promote British pigs and poultry
A new intitiative has been launched to encourage producers, processors and suppliers to shout about why British produce is better.
Visitors to this year’s British Pig & Poultry Fair, taking place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire on 15 and 16 May, will be provided with advice and ideas on how to communicate with consumers about British produce by organising school visits, getting media coverage and using social media. Organisers hope this will help British farmers to promote their high-welfare standards, their work to protect the environment and their contribution to the British economy.
Alice Bell, assistant director of RASE events, said: “Consumers have many misconceptions about pig and poultry production, and a little information goes a long way to helping them make informed choices.
“We have so much to tell about the way we are improving our environmental credentials to provide affordable, good-quality food while protecting the British countryside. Everyone in the industry can take some simple steps to do their bit and help raise awareness of British pork and poultry. If everyone does a little, we can achieve a lot.”
