Moy Park grabs M&PPA limelight

Moy Park was celebrating earlier this week after taking home the top title of Processor of the Year at the prestigious Meat & Poultry Processing Awards in Birmingham.

As well being declared the UK’s leading processor, one of its staff, Aaron Whiteman, took the title of Young Processor of the Year.

Moy Park director of operations, convenience foods Roger Martin said: “It feels fantastic to win such a great acknowledgement. The whole Moy Park team is very happy, it was a really nice surprise to win this evening. As well as being a part of a global company, we take great pride in, being very active in the local communities where many of our manufacturing sites are based. Investment in our staff and team work are key values for our company.

“I’d like to thank the whole Moy park team – everybody has played their part tonight to win this award. I think winning the award will heighten our awareness of the fact that winning an accolade like this is possible and that we should shout about what we do. I’d like to hope we will be putting our best foot forward for future events.”

The awards, organised by MTJ, also saw Tulip take home the trophy for Environmental Initiative of the Year. Alec Jarrett & Son took the title for Export Initiative of the Year, Small Processing Business of the Year was won by Westaway Sausages, the Supply Chain Award went to Gafoor Poultry Products, and Charlotte Sutton, Dawn Meats Group, was named Plant Manager of the Year.

The awards, held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham this week, were again supported by all the major industry bodies, The Association of Independent Meat Suppliers, the British Poultry Council, the British Meat Processors Association, the International Meat Trade Association, the Provision Trade Federation and the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers.

The awards were also sponsored by a number of organisations, including Eblex, the Meat Training Council, the CDO Group, Bizerba and Foodex. Entertainment at the awards was sponsored by Systems Integration.
