Register now for Butchers' Fairs

MTJ Extra is pleased to announce that 2012 will see the return of MTJ’s Butchers’ Fairs, which are aimed at helping butchers get ahead by sharing skills, innovation and best-practice.

The fairs, aimed specifically at butchers, farm shops and delis, will take place at Kempton ParkRacecourse on 24 June 2012 and at Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on 7 October 2012. With exhibitors ranging from butchers’ sundries suppliers, ingredients manufacturers, equipment and machinery firms, to IT solutions suppliers, shopfitting companies and trade bodies, the fairs offer butchers the opportunity to find new products and services, as well as network with existing suppliers.

Exhibitions aside, there will also be live activity, including a full line-up of stage demonstrations and a new meat masterclass zone for butchers.

Visitors to the fairs will also have the opportunity to battle with the best in a series of competitions. The Summer fair will play host to the new Eblex Ready Meal competition, which is free to enter and open to all independent butchers in England. Butchers will also be able to pit themselves against bakers in the butchers vs bakers competition, with classes for sausage rolls and open quiches.

The Autumn show in October, meanwhile, will play host to the final of MTJ’s prestigious Champion of Champions competition, with more competitions to be confirmed. Winners’ trophies for both fairs will be presented by Anthea Turner.

As always, MTJ Butchers’ Fairs will be sited alongside the Bakers’ Fairs, giving butchers who dabble in baked products the chance to keep up to date with the latest skills, equipment and ingredients.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “Last year, our Butchers’ Fairs were an astounding success, with butchers from across the country coming to network, share ideas and find new suppliers. This year, we expect the events to be even bigger and better, with a wide range of exhibitors, live activity and competitions.

“Registrations are now open and I would encourage butchers to register for your free place soon and make the most of these dedicated events, which are aimed directly at giving you opportunities you need to boost your business.”
