Welsh lamb sales increase
Domestic sales of Welsh lamb are on the rise according to Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).
Lamb purchases for the first quarter of the year increased by 2.4% to 1,670t, said HCC’s market development executive Emma Jones.
She said: “This was largely driven by promotion of leg roasts by retailers, which increased demand during the period. Consumer expenditure on lamb in Wales during the quarter increased by 4.8% to almost £13.7m compared with the same period in 2011.”
