New processing and packaging service for farmers

18 July, 2012

CCM Quality Foods has teamed up with packaging firm Northern Paper Board to offer a new service to farmers looking to start their own meat box scheme.

The partnership means that farmers who use CCM’s meat processing services can now have their livestock cut, boxed and packed for onward sale at CCM’s meat processing unit at Skipton Auction Mart. They can choose from two industry-sized standard boxes manufactured at Northern Paper Board’s 40,000sq ft factory in Engine Shed Lane.

Existing customers of the service include Hellifield Highland Beef, which processes 30 pedigree Highland cattle annually through CCM Quality Foods, selling it in mixed boxes or individually as beef roasts, steaks, burgers and sausages through its own farm shop and online by mail order.

Northern Paper Board sales director Paul Curran, said: “While meat processors form an integral part of our growing UK-wide customer portfolio, we take great pride in working with our local auction mart to assist local farmers in getting their meat products to market. It all helps boost the regional economy.”
