Broxburn update: two potential buyers

Two potential buyers for the Hall’s of Broxburn sausage plant are emerging, the Scotsman newspaper has reported.

A government source told the Scotsman that: “Scottish Enterprise indicated there were a couple of interested parties, but it was at a very early stage.”

However, the report acknowledged that it was unclear whether either of these offers would take on the plant as a going concern or run it as a scaled-back operation.

The Scottish government has not confirmed if there are any potential buyers for the plant, although the Scottish finance minister described progress as “encouraging” following the taskforce’s last meeting on 31 July. However, he reiterated warnings that the process was still at an early stage.

The taskforce is due to meet again on Wednesday 22 August.
