Cranswick launches new snacking sausage

The meat snacking sector in the UK has introduced a new fully cooked, ready-to-eat single-serve sausage.

Available from Tesco stores for 89p, the 65g Bertie’s Banger is the first range of its kind to hit supermarket shelves in the UK and is set to challenge the attitude of consumers towards meat snacks.

The snack-sized sausage will be launched by meat processing company Cranswick. The company said it decided to launch the product after conducting detailed consumer research, which led to it recognising a gap in the market.

According to Cranswick the research confirmed that the consumer was looking for a substantial, tasty snack with ingredients that were recognisably British and could be eaten at any time.

Cranswick said: “The new Bertie’s Bangers are perfectly cooked to give the eating experience of a quality British sausage and can be eaten straight out of the packaging.”

Richard Morris of Bertie’s Bangers said: “We are really excited to introduce Bertie’s Bangers to the market and see this new range as a much-needed addition to the less natural, less satisfying offer currently available in the mainstream supermarkets. We are expecting to receive a great reaction to the new launch.”

The sausages launched on 7 October in Tesco stores and include four varieties: Succulent Pork, Herby Lincolnshire, Barbecue Pork, and Pork and Chilli.
