SAMW donates to charity
The Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW) has donated £1,750 each to three Scottish charities.
The NSPCC, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, and Maggie’s Centres each received a donation of £1,750 after members of SAMW and supporters of the association raised a total of £5,250 from a charity auction at its annual conference dinner in Glasgow earlier this year.
SAMW president Alan McNaughton said: “This is a long-standing SAMW tradition and we’re delighted to be able to once again make a contribution to the work of three such important charities.”
According to NSPCC Scotland community fundraising manager Susie Barron, the £1,750 covered the cost of the charity answering 435 calls.
Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland said the contribution would have a real impact on its ability to continue supporting those affected by chest, heart and stroke illness across the country. Corporate development manager from the charity George Grierson said: “We’re extremely grateful to SAMW for their efforts on our behalf.”
Community development manager from Maggie’s Centres Calerie Busher said: “We will be using the money to support the many cancer patients and their families who come into the centre for support during their visits to Ninewells Hospital for treatments. Many thanks to everyone involved in raising this much-needed donation.”
