Cheshire butcher’s success at Smithfield

A Cheshire-based butcher was celebrating this week after scooping a top title in this year’s Q Guild Smithfield Awards.

Corry’s Butchers, based in Stockport, took two Diamond awards with its porchetta, winning the Best Kitchen-ready Product category and also the Best Pork category, before going on to take the overall title at the event in Butchers’ Hall, London.

Neil Corry said: “We’re thrilled that our products have been recognised in the Smithfield Awards, and we’re especially proud to have received a coveted Diamond award. As a Q Guild member, we regard ourselves as among Britain’s best butchers, and these awards prove that we have the products to match. Winning a Smithfield Award definitely adds value and prestige to our business as a whole.”

Cold pie: Edwards of Conwy, Pork & Black Pudding with local Free Range Egg

Cooked meat: Drake & Macefield, Oak Smoked Ham
Hot pie: Drake & Macefield, Sweet Chilli Chicken Pie
Sausage: Allan Bennett, Pork Sausages
Beef: Robinsons Butchers & Delicatessen, Beef with Red Wine and Mushroom Pie
Burger: Davidsons Specialist Butchers, Juicy Lucy Burger
Cured: Lishmans of Ilkley, Oak Smoked Streaky Bacon
