Eblex event targets college lecturers

Around 30 lecturers from agricultural colleges across England came together to share the latest knowledge and transfer tools from within the industry.

Attendees at the event, which was produced by Eblex’s Better Returns Programme (BRP), also discussed how to get the most out of grassland, the importance of estimated breeding values (EBVs) and the market outlook for beef and sheep.

The day was also an opportunity for Eblex to highlight new information from the BRP. There were also some “more in-depth” sessions where subjects such as the use of home-grown cereals in beef and sheep rations were discussed along with the importance of feed planning.

Lecturers were updated on the latest economic trends in the beef and sheep industry, while DairyCo, the dairy division of AHDB, presented the teaching resources is has available.

Eblex industry development manager Chris Lloyd said: “The college lecturers’ day has become a popular and well-established event in the calendar for English agricultural colleges.

“Through building the relationship with college lecturers we are able to communicate with the next generation about to enter the farming industry and ensure they’re aware of the BRP and the resources we have to offer.”
