Vion silent on sale claims
Vion is refusing to comment on claims in the Sunday papers that the company’s UK operations are up for sale.
According to reports in the Sunday Times, the processing giant has appointed Rothschild to oversee the sales of its UK business, however a spokesman for Vion said they did “not comment on rumour and speculation”.
The paper said the business, which had recently closed its troubled pork processing operation Hall’s of Broxburn, was looking to divest its meat and poultry operations, but retain its pork business.
It claimed that two investment groups, Sun European Partners and Endless, were considering offers for the business.
A spokesman for Rothschild also declined to comment on the article.
