Deadline extension for top awards

There is still time to enter the Meat & Poultry Processing Awards after Meat Trades Journal extended the deadline until 14 December.

With strong demand for the prestigious competition MTJ has extended the deadline for two weeks to give outstanding processing companies the chance to get their entries in.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "We’ve had some superb entries in already with a wide range of companies looking to compete, but I’m aware that with the busy Christmas period companies are swamped, so we’ve decided to give them a little extra breathing space to be in with a chance of a top title.

"The awards are designed to provide some recognition for some of the great companies and individuals out there. This market is intensely competitive, so what could be better than taking home a title which says you are the best at what you do?"

The event gives companies the opportunity to enter across seven categories:

• Environmental Initiative of the Year

• Export Initiative of the Year

• Plant Manager of the Year

• Small Processing Business of the Year

• Processing Business of the Year

• Supply Chain Initiative of the Year

• Young Processor of the Year

The deadline for entries into the awards is 30 November and the awards are being sponsored by Bizerba, Eblex, the Meat Training Council and Reiser UK. The after dinner entertainment is sponsored by Systems Integration.

The awards are again being supported by all the major industry bodies, The Association of Independent Meat Suppliers, the British Poultry Council, the British Meat Processors Association, the International Meat Trade Association, the Provision Trade Federation and the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers.
