Welsh fund helps meat processor expansion

A family-owned meat wholesaler is planning a £375,000 expansion of its plant and equipment with the backing of a Wales SME Investment Fund.

Country Bacon Supplies, also known as Country Bacon, will invest the money at its Bridgend meat processing facility.

The company has been established for over 30 years and is supplier of freshly-prepared meat products to a “loyal” base of independent retailers.

Country Bacon is also planning to increase the range of products it supplies as well as to branch out into “lucrative” new markets.

Managing Director Lyn Stoneham said: “The independent retailers we currently supply need to know they’re dealing with an established supplier they can trust.  They appreciate the quality and freshness of our product range as well as our commitment to customer service.  I’ve been keen to expand our range and move into new markets for some time,” explained Managing Director.

“Country Bacon is a well-established business ripe for expansion.  Customers are becoming more particular about the food they eat and demand for high-quality meat products keeps increasing year-on-year.

“We’re confident we can scale-up our operations to benefit from this and Finance Wales’ investment has provided us with the capital we need to forge ahead with our plans.  Added to this, Finance Wales believed in our business plans and helped us shape them into an investment-ready proposition.”
