Rodent virus discovered in Yorkshire
Food animal producers have been asked to step up rodent control since Hantavirus was discovered in rats on a farm in Yorkshire.
It is thought the virus has arrived on trade ships from Asia and can produce flu-like symptoms in humans, which can also be fatal.
However, it is unknown whether the virus has spread to other parts of the country, so farm workers are being urged to avoid breathing in dust from rodent droppings and urine.
