Animal welfare body gains new chairman
A new chairman has been appointed to the Farm Animal Welfare Committee (FAWC), Defra has announced.
Peter Jinman will take over from Professor Christopher Wathes, who retired as FAWC chairman at the end of 2012.
Jinman is a veterinary surgeon who has spent the majority of his working life in practice in Herefordshire. He has previously held the posts of president of the British Veterinary Association and president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Also joining FAWC are two new members, Dr Andy Butterworth – senior lecturer in clinical veterinary science at Bristol Veterinary School; and Richard Jennison – poultry veterinary surgeon working at a mixed veterinary practice in Herefordshire.
