Pukka Pies announces 50th birthday celebration
Pukka Pies will mark its 50th anniversary with 50 themed events to celebrate its increasing sales and success throughout the last half century.
The 50th anniversary will celebrate its founder chairman Trevor Storer’s first creation, a steak and kidney pie, and will take place at the Syston manufacturing headquarters, which hosts 280 employees.
Storer founded the company in 1963 and has been an integral part of it from its origins in the family kitchen to reaching its current production of 60 million pies per year. The company has recently grown further with a £7m factory extension.
The founder’s sons, Tim and Andrew Storer, are currently co-managing directors, upholding the family values and traditions.
Tim said: “We are delighted that Pukka Pies has reached 50 years in business and will be looking to celebrate the year in typical Pukka Pie style. Our founding principle was to make superior-quality pies and pasties, using only the finest ingredients, with highly trained and caring staff, and these values continue today.”
He continued: “Sales have increased year on year and signs are already very promising for 2013. We look forward to many more years of Pukka Pies ahead.”
Pukka Pies supplies its pies and pasties to a range of customers across the UK, including supermarkets, football stadiums and fish and chip shops.
