In search of the best bacon butty
The public has been urged to cast their votes as olive magazine teams up with Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week in search of the nation’s best bacon butty.
The monthly food magazine, along with the seventh annual Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, is encouraging the public to name their favourite pub, café or street stall, which will further lead to the winning entry receiving publicity in the monthly food magazine.
The nominator revealing the best bacon butty will receive a night in the Wall B+B in Southampton. Additionally, there will be a prize for the best homemade recipe upon being tested in the olive test kitchen. The winner will be staying in the Pig Hotel, New Forest,
Editor of olive, Christine Hayes, claims: “olive loves a good bacon sarnie and we know the Great British public does too, but everyone has their own idea of what makes the perfect butty. We are leaving it up to the public to tell us why their local café has the best in the land. And if you think your recipe is the absolute best, we want to hear from you.”
Claire Holland of Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, which will take place 18-24 March 2013, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this competition and olive magazine, which has always championed British meat produce.”
She continued: “Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week encourages consumers to ‘think again about bacon’ by providing a showcase for the quality and variety of bacon produced today, such as that identified by the Red Tractor mark.”
The competition closes at noon on 8 March 2013 and the winners will be announced in the British special June issue of olive.
