Huntley’s Country Stores buys its first prime lamb champions
Huntley’s Country Stores in Samlesbury purchased its first prime lamb champions at Skiption Auction Mart’s monthly prime shows on Monday.
Butcher George Cropper Jnr paid the top price of £100 per head, or 238.1p per kilo. He has recently joined the butchery department at the Whalley Road farm shop.
Huntley’s also features a restaurant, delicatessen, bakery and other retail outlets. It is renowned for sourcing locally produced lamb, beef and pork, where a vast majority comes from Bowland Foods in Preston.
Cropper is committed to following and developing this policy and said: “We can trace all our meat back to the farm and, where possible, this will be a local Lancashire farmer in support of our regional agricultural communities. The Skipton title winners were bred and reared in Lancashire, so I was determined to buy them.”
The lambs will be ready for sale this weekend at Huntley’s Country Stores.
