VIDEO: Female butcher tells her story
Charlotte Harbottle is one of a growing number of female butchers, in what is acknowledged to be a male-dominated industry.
However, bucking the trend, 25-year-old Harbottle has set up her own butcher’s shop in Gosforth, Newcastle. This follows an already successful career in the industry, working in many shops, including a few high-end businesses in London.
As part of National Butchers’ Week (#NBW13) Harbottle tells Meat Trades Journal reporter Nicholas Robinson what it’s like having her own shop, how she got into the industry and, most importantly, what her plans are for #NBW13.
