Featherweight gets industry support
One of the UK’s leading food trade suppliers has sponsored an English featherweight champion in a joint venture with Dunbia Kilbeggan.
Dalziel Ltd and Dunbia’s joint Drovers Beef brand has sponsored the featherweight champion Josh Warrington, who is defending his title against Jamie Speight at Leeds Town Hall on Friday 22 March.
Drovers Beef is a high quality brand, which has been produced by Dunbia and marketed by Dalziel. It has been successful since its launch in March last year and is marketed through Dalziel's six meat depots across the UK.
Of the sponsorship and the fight, which has been publicised in local media, sales director at Dalziel Ltd David Whyatt said: “From all of the bad publicity that beef has received lately, this is a positive. Josh is a home-town boy from Leeds and this is the first time he has defended his title.
Of the Drovers Beef brand Whyatt added: “It’s specially selected beef from selected farms and it’s been sold through six of our depots and it’s been extremely successful. One of our depots is based near Leeds and a customers asked if we would sponsor Josh, as he was defending his title, and that’s how our involvement started.”
