Campaign to rediscover Scotch Lamb PGI
TV presenter Cat Cubie has joined Scotch Lamb ambassadors in a campaign to urge consumers to rediscover Scotch Lamb PGI.
As part of Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) sampling campaign, Cubie has been in Dumfries to participate in promotional activities.
Cubie said: "We have a fabulous natural product – with full traceability and quality assurance – on our doorstep, so it’s hard to understand why we Scots eat much less lamb and sheepmeat than consumers elsewhere in the UK."
She is visiting farms to hear about traceability and quality assurance and, throughout the next fortnight, the ambassadors will continue the journey around the Borders, the Lothians, Fife, Aberdeenshire, Inverness and Morayshire.
The ambassadors will demonstrate how simple it is to cook succulent, tender Scotch Lamb and will distribute recipe leaflets to shoppers.
"I’ve enjoyed being involved in the tasting session today and meeting Dumfries shoppers. It has been really encouraging to hear their positive feedback on the samples, especially from those who thought they didn’t like lamb," said Cubie.
The campaign comes after the exceptionally wet weather conditions last year, which forced a late supply of Scotch Lamb.
