ASA rules AHDB pork campaign inoffensive

An AHDB media campaign about pork has been deemed inoffensive by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), after three people complained.

The ASA website showed three people had complained about the campaign, saying the AHDB slogan “Give a fork about your pork” was a play on offensive language. However, the ASA said it understood the phrase was intended to raise awareness about the provenance of pork, stating AHDB had “used word play in a comical way to express that message”.

AHDB said “Give a fork about your pork” was a play on “Give a thought about your pork” only. However, the ASA said it could both be considered a play on an offensive word, as well as thought, but said there was no further action needed.
