PGI recipe competition launched
Welsh Lamb is leading a competition to engage consumers to think about where their food comes from.
Consumers across the UK have been invited to create their own recipes using regional produce for the competition, which is part of a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) campaign led by Welsh Lamb.
The UK currently has 32 products with PGI status, which includes Welsh Lamb and Philippa Gill of red meat body Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales explained how it was important to use PGI products. She said: “We’re on a mission to find some brilliant new recipes that include PGI products from all regions across the UK.
“Lots of people create wonderful recipes using great, local produce and we want to hear about them. Quality food is so important to Britain’s culture and heritage and we want to get people thinking about their special recipes that showcase the best produce from their area.”
