Scottish butcher launches online shop
Scottish butcher Simon Howie has launched a new online shop butcher’s shop, which will deliver to customers anywhere in the UK.
Howie, a former winner of MTJ’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year awards, launched the online venture after he noticed that customers were coming from as far afield as Glasgow and Edinburgh to buy meat in his Perth and Auchterarder shops.
The new online venture offers the butcher’s full range of produce, including beef, lamb, pork, poultry and game, bacon and sausages, haggis and puddings. Customers can either pick a standard meat box or create their own selection, which they can arrange to have delivered on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis in a custom-made chill box.
Howie said: “We hope the web shop will augment our products, which can be bought on supermarket shelves, while allowing customers easy access to the kind of meat items which are associated with a specialist butcher’s shop.
“The meat industry is a multi-billion-pound business with little or no presence to speak of on the web at present. The advent of overnight cool chain carrier companies releases a huge marketplace to butchers and other speciality food retailers.”
