Pig industry award invites nominations
The David Black Award, which celebrates the best in the pig industry, is welcoming nominations until the end of August.
Judged by a panel chaired by Bpex, the annual award is given to someone who has made a valuable and sustained contribution to the pig industry.
Bpex director Mick Sloyan said: “Each year the judges face a very difficult task because there are so many deserving people nominated for the award. It makes you realise what a wealth of talent there is in the industry and how dedicated they all are.”
Former winner and NPA webmaster Digby Scott said: “The David Black Award is the pig industry’s most important award. It demonstrates to the rest of the world, including others in the pig meat supply chain, ministers, peers, MPs and regulators what we value most in this sector and what our best people are capable of achieving on behalf of the industry.”
The nominations close on 30 August and the award will be presented at the House of Lords in November at an industry breakfast attended by pig industry representatives, MPs, peers and ministers.
