Dawn Meats lands sustainability award
A leading meat processor was celebrating after its use of space-age technology landed it a top award.
Dawn Meats took the title for Best Short Term Energy and Carbon Management at the Sustainability Champions Awards held in London earlier this month.
The company used NASA-developed technology in its district heating system, which reclaims energy from boilers to heat water achieving thermal energy reduction across five of its sites.
The award, organised by 2degrees, an online network of sustainability professionals, recognised and rewarded Dawn Meats for “pushing the boundaries in developing and executing this innovative sustainability initiative that has delivered efficiency within the operations of the business itself and real value to the 2degrees community”.
Charlie Coakley, Dawn Meats environmental sustainability manager, said: “It is an honour to be recognised by our peers in sustainability. The award is testament to the ongoing work being done by our sustainability teams across our business.”
