Co-op appoints new trading director
The Co-operative has appointed Michael Fletcher as its new trading director.
Fletcher was previously at Tesco for 22 years, where he held roles such as commercial director in Malaysia and commercial director for group procurement.
The retailer has made the appointment at a time when it is embarking on a new strategic direction, and has also appointed Ian Ayling as customer change director at the Food Executive team.
Chief executive for the Co-operative Group Steve Murrells said: “This is an exciting time for The Co-operative, as we embark on a new long-term strategic plan to drive the business forward.
“Our initial focus on doing the basics better is already paying dividends in terms of sales, and these appointments bring a wealth of new experience and leadership to help maintain this momentum. The new appointments will be instrumental in delivering our long-term strategy, and will help shape the future direction of The Co-operative Food.”
The company has seen good growth over the summer so far.
