2 Sisters creates two COO roles

Poultry processing company 2 Sisters Food Group (2FG) has created two chief operating officers roles following a restructure.

The company now has positions for a chief operating officer (COO) for protein and a COO for chilled ambient and frozen. Both roles were announced yesterday when Chris Walker stepped up to the position of COO for chilled ambient and frozen, from the role of group procurement and supply chain director.

Walker will have a team of four divisional managing directors, who will report to him. The divisional MDs include Colin Smith (Biscuits); Eddie Power (Frozen); Simon Wookey (Chilled); and Veepul Patel (Bakery).
A 2FG statement said the company was still recruiting for a COO of protein, the successful candidate of which will oversee all poultry, added value poultry and red meat operations in the UK and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile 2FG CEO Ranjit Singh said he was eager to ensure the team was strong enough to respond to its customers’ needs as the business grew.

“Therefore, I am making these changes to the senior leadership team because it strengthens the business and puts the customer even closer to the heart of everything we do. These new roles will help give greater focus to our operational delivery and bring additional expertise within our product categories,” he said.

“This promotion for Chris is well-deserved. He has had an outstanding 32-year career within retail, starting at Asda before working for almost 20 years at Morrisons. As senior trading director for fresh foods at Morrisons, he was instrumental in developing their vertical integration manufacturing model.”
